Can you describe a time when you organized an event or activity? What was the outcome?

My time in high school I took part of a lot of clubs, specifically black student union. I was part of that clip for I believe 3 1/2 years. So basically majority of my high school years and time there considering.Um, I was affected by COVID my freshman year, but yeah, or else I would have been four years. But for that. We conducted a lot of potlucks, a lot of slide show events where we like brought everyone to the quad and had people participate for snacks or just to share out loud their ideas. What may be our club could do better to represent diversity around the campus and also getting people more involved in creating a much bigger team than what we already had.Um, and also this. Was a very important club we.Would work with, um, you're kind of your guys's version of ASD, but ours was a USB and they would conduct school dances on staff events, They would conduct volleyball games like student versus staff.And.This really taught me to just work with my team on.How to create an environment where students would want to participate and not feel?Kind of shy or ashamed to be like, ohh, I wanna go try that out, you know, because I feel like now, nowadays there's a lot of students that are more closed off and don't really.Feel the wants or like the need to step out of their little bubble. And I feel like as someone who's going to be in this role, I wanna provide that comfort and I guess form to have them break out a little bit and see more connections around campus .I was doing my old one so.Yeah, the outcome was very much happy because These events that I would do, I would see a lot of people connecting and talking amongst each others and you know, working in a team to win whatever they wanted to win or you know, little things like that is it really does make you smile because they're like, oh, I worked really hard and seeing everyone and always bloom out Is really what's the most important.

AI Evaluation:

Your answer effectively highlights your involvement in organizing events through the Black Student Union and showcases your leadership skills, collaboration, and the impact on community building. It demonstrates your understanding of student support services and your desire to foster inclusivity. However, there are areas for improvement to make your response more concise and focused.

Evaluation:

1. Clarity and Structure: Your response could benefit from better organization. Start with the specific event, your role in organizing it, and the outcome clearly. Reorganizing your thoughts into a structured format (Situation, Task, Action, Result) may help convey your message more effectively.

2. Specifics: While you mention multiple activities (potlucks, slideshow events), detailing one specific event will give a clearer picture of your role and contributions. Specify what you did to promote participation and what challenges you faced.

3. Outcome: You mention a positive outcome but could elaborate more. Quantifying success (e.g., number of attendees or feedback received) would strengthen your response and demonstrate the impact of your efforts.

4. Conciseness: Aim to eliminate filler words and phrases, keeping your points sharp and to the point. Avoid reiterating broad statements about student behavior and focus more on your specific experiences and insights.

Improved Version:
“In my 3.5 years in the Black Student Union, I organized a series of events, including a cultural potluck, where we aimed to boost student engagement and celebrate diversity. I collaborated with our school's ASB to create an inviting environment through fun activities like student vs. staff games. I took the initiative to promote these events on social media and through flyers, which increased participation significantly. The outcome was encouraging, with over 100 students joining our potluck and actively sharing their ideas, leading to an increased sense of community and collaboration across campus. This experience taught me the importance of creating a welcoming atmosphere, something I aim to implement in my future role to foster student connections and engagement.”

Position.I would approach a campus wide event by mainly using social media and physical forms of promotion like QR codes around the school. We could put them in different places like the student lounge, the main office, financially because.I know around this town, there's a lot of students around there, you know, having issues with their FAFSA and such. And also here as she because people come here to get their ideas. It's also very common spot and you could even ask teachers to participate to share this news and ASG.Katie, our student activities staff as well.Um, we have an Instagram that we could.Excuse me, we could use to promote, which we already do at a lot of people use that Instagram to keep up and also posting on the main school page. This would also help a lot of students who are still navigating the site and around campus to be like, oh, maybe this is something I wanna go look into. Maybe I'll find them.People new friends and it would really.Impact the students because you could see people connecting out like together amongst each one another and.Yeah, I would kind of just also spread the word along with my friends and my professors.That.We'll definitely make sure. This is.Getting fully participated in.

And I strongly abide by that because.I if I wanted to, you know, be in the student lounge, I would want a very respectful area where I could still get things done that are necessary to be done while. You know, relaxing a little bit and being like, OK, I could still have fun in here, but I can balance my.Things that I have to do.

AI Evaluation:

Your answer touches on several important aspects of a successful student lounge environment, which is a strong start. You emphasize the importance of student input, which is vital for creating a space that meets the needs and preferences of its users. Additionally, you mention the significance of having a variety of amenities, such as games and study areas, which can appeal to diverse student interests.

However, your response could be improved in clarity and organization. It tends to be a bit scattered, which may make it harder for the interviewer to follow your main points. You also repeat some ideas, such as kindness and respect, which could be more concise. Lastly, it would help to provide more concrete examples or suggestions for policies that foster respect, rather than broadly stating the need for them.

To improve your answer, consider structuring it into clear sections:

1. Student Engagement: Mention the importance of gathering student feedback on lounge amenities.
2. Amenities: Specify what trendy and engaging features should be included.
3. Respectful Environment: Explain how policies can promote respect and provide specific examples of what those policies could look like.

Overall, your answer is well-intentioned and covers relevant points, but improving its organization and clarity would strengthen it.
